Caipirissima
CaipirinhaI made this drink the other night, good drink.  It deserves to be recorded and shared.  It's a varient of the Caipirinha, which is the national drink of Brazil (not Cuba, which is what I told people).  I made it sweet and refreshing; Good for a summer night, perhaps.
  • 1½ - 2 oz white rum

  • ½ fresh lime, cut into 8 wedges

  • 2 - 3 teaspoons white granulated sugar

  • Soda water

  • Ice
In a rocks glass or a shaker tin, put the lime wedges and sugar and muddle them until all the juice is out of the limes.  Add the ice to the top of the glass.  Add the rum.  Top off with soda water.  Either stir it in the glass, or roll into the rocks glass from the tin.

If you can get your hands of a bottle of cachaça, use that instead of rum, since that'll give you the real Brazilian drink.
